Burning Tips
In order to get the most out of your candles,
we recommend the following:
-
Burn candles for at least 3-4 hours at a time. This will help the candles
to burn evenly and avoid a tunneling effect which leaves much unused wax.
- Before burning, trim your wicks to 1/8-1/4 of an inch.
-
Burning your candle for longer than 4 hours with an untrimmed wick will
increase chances of your candle producing soot. If the flame gets too high,
extinguish the flame, allow wax to harden, trim wick and relight the candle.
-
The wick may curl to one side causing an uneven burn. As the candle burns
more to the bottom, the extra wax on the side will melt away. However, if
the wick is left untrimmed, it may burn one side of the container too much
causing the container to turn black. If you notice this happening it may be
necessary to recenter the wick.
- To prevent uneven burning, keep your candles away from drafts.
- Be sure to read the Safety Warning label on the bottom of your candles.
- Always place your candles on a heat resistant surface.

Candle Safety
Please be sure to read and follow the safety instructions on the warning labels
before burning your candles. The majority of fires caused by candles are due to the
improper use of candles. Here are some guidelines for safely burning your TiKo Soy™
candles:
-
Never leave a room with a burning candle. Always keep a burning candle within
sight and extinguish all candles before leaving a room or going to sleep.
-
Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Always burn your
candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from furniture, paper, drapes,
etc. Avoid burning candles near drafts or vents.
-
Keep candles out of reach of children or pets. Do not place a candle where it can
be knocked over.
-
Trim candle wicks to 1/8 inch before burning to prevent the flame from getting too
big and to prevent uneven burning. Candles that are not trimmed properly may smoke.
-
Do not touch a container while the wax is liquid.
-
Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, and other debris.
-
Extinguish the flame when there is 2 inches of wax left for pillars and 1/2 inch
of wax left for containers.
